Do
you know how big your ego is?
Ego is usually defined as a person's
self-esteem and self-importance while in other occasions it is defined as a
conscious and unconscious state of thinking of a person.
We all have egos. Usually we never fully
realize how big our ego can be until we have reached that extreme mile or if
unlucky even fail to completely to recognize it. There many definitions of egos
and occur in different aspects of life, each happening in its own
extremes.
Personally I never really understood what
ego meant or I had it- until I started following the professional MSN trident
of (Messi, Suarez and Neymar) of football call it soccer, from Barcelona FC in
Spain. Following MSN moved from fun to learning especially in regards to
working a professional environment.
These where three cool guys well known to
be the best in their position on the pitch as well as the world's top strikers.
The position of strikers on the pitch is usually associated with selfishness
and ego as each is competing for the most goals and glory of the team, thus
expected to fight in taking on each strike into the goal net being at the
front. As such, having Messi and Neymar was already having people agitated of
how far they could work well together after one season of winning nothing in
2013-2014, and then the addition of Suarez in the 2014-2015 season even made
matters worse of how effective the front three would get on together,
especially given the previous biting history regarding Suarez. However, as the
external public and various media networks drew their worrying opinions,
Barcelona was internally confidently building the partnership between its front
three. As such to the surprise of the world, a combined and hardworking
partnership of the front three trident had been born in Barcelona FC and the
success could be evidently seen in season of 2014-2015 winning everything
except for one trophy combined with the various individual awards shared between
the three, yet this spattering success was just only the beginning as seen in
the subsequent seasons over two years later, and as such, now the world of
football/soccer recognizing them as probably the best front three trident in
the history of football/soccer.
When the successful partnership of the
trident was questioned, each individual MSN was very humble in their answer and
the most common theme was "we all
take ourselves equal with no one above the other in the Barça room and as such
we have no Ego whatsoever. Despite, each knowing how good the other is
especially with the competing striker/forward role we have, we have learnt to
have no Ego among our ourselves to work best for our profession, club and
fans."
Like I previously said, we usually
experience egos in different aspects but egos majorly come at our workplaces where
we have to compete with professional peers especially while at the same job
position or management to show especially bosses that each individual is
working or achieving better than the other that we even fail to recognize the
contributions of each of us in our work environment as we compete. So the more
I read about the headlines of MSN and their no egos, the more amazing it became
clear to me to question- where I am I exhibiting my egos most,/why I am I
having such huge ego with my colleagues and family, friends? Have my egos stifled
others from development? It was so eye
opening especially- of how amazing, how it would be if only we had such
successful no ego relationships and instead focused on working together towards
the success of everyone and win everything in the end. And in that moment I
felt I should wash away my egos especially where they are just for personal
benefit, recognition or to pull down other persons. As such- I now try to be always
conscious of my circumstances and decisions to keep in check when my ego may
popup.
MSN no ego zone of professionalism has
been an amazing lesson to not just me but the world of professionalism that
some may not clearly put in context, well as I am also trying to put in context,
but I know people can feel it worldwide especially for those who follow MSN
that even feel they cannot get enough!
However, nevertheless, we still need a little bit doze of ego to drive our passions forward as we also engage and compete with others but in an embracing and welcoming environment that allows others also to develop, otherwise we would be bored, as such perhaps then- give the word ego another meaning in this case...
